father’s nap
Devotion to family has always been a defining trait of post-war Korean fathers. Many dedicated himself to the same job for over 30 years, rarely taking proper vacations or even enjoying weekends off. He would come home exhausted, spending his evenings watching TV. On weekends, the television often became their closest companion, without any particular hobbies. One Saturday afternoon, I saw my father taking a rare, well-deserved nap, and an unexpected wave of emotions washed over me. I felt a mix of sadness, gratitude, and deep admiration, as I was reminded of the countless quiet sacrifices he had made for our family.
