Enroute to Eden
In ‘En route to Eden’, a shopping trolley is full of waste, symbolising a throwaway lifestyle. The waste includes single-use plastic straws, plastic bags, polystyrene plates, and polypropylene utensils for takeaway food forming the material basis of daily life. All of this has been acquired quickly, was easy to consume, and what was left could be dumped in the bin. This throwaway culture has destroyed ecosystems, robbed poor communities of natural resources and of a healthy and safe living environment. Every person has a right to access to an environment free of plastic debris and toxins associated with its improper disposal.
