City's Slug City's Lights

The Bombay dorid slug (Goniobranchus bombayanus) is a brightly colored species of sea slug, belonging to the nudibranch family. Described in 1946 from then 'Bombay state' and then later rediscovered from its type locality in 2018 from 'Mumbai'. Its habitat is along the rocky shores and coral reefs. This slug is distinguished by its striking patterns and vibrant hues, which act as a warning to predators about its toxicity. Like other nudibranchs, it lacks a protective shell but compensates with chemical defenses and aposematic coloration. The Bombay dorid slug is a fascinating example of the region’s marine biodiversity, emphasizing the importance of preserving its fragile habitats.
