Chalk Hill

This vibrant scene captures the pastoral beauty of rural Sonoma County during autumn. The rolling vineyards, arranged in neat rows, are ablaze with the warm hues of fall—rich reds, oranges, and yellows blending harmoniously. Framing the scene are oak trees adorned with moss, a quintessential feature of Sonoma's landscape, which provides a natural vignette and enhances the rustic charm. In the background, the hill that is covered with evergreens is Chalk Hill, which the Chalk Hill AVA (appellation) is named after. "Chalk Hill" is named for the chalky white ash— more specifically, quartzite-rich volcanic tuff—that characterizes its soils.
