Cemetery on the seashore. Mahdia, Tunisia
A family of Tunisian tourists walks through the Mahdia marine cemetery, considered one of the most beautiful in the world. This small town has a long history since its foundation by the Phoenicians. Due to its strategic location, it was successively occupied by Romans, Christians and Muslims. The simple tombs belong to local fishermen, but also to some foreigners who died in the conflicts. In the background, the remains of a port built by the Fatimids in the 10th century.
