My first Mountain Gorilla trek was to visit the Habinyanja group in Uganda. The juveniles were busy, play fighting, rolling around on the ground and chasing each other. One of the youngsters wanted access to a tree behind me, so I quietly backed up giving him his space. He settled in at the base of the tree and started playing with a vine. To my amazement, he looked straight at me and reached out his hand. So many thoughts ran through my head trying to understand if there was meaning behind the gesture. Curiosity, exploration, trust, thankful. I call this moment Bridging Worlds as the interaction amplified the beauty and connection to the nature world.
