Boy with Violin

Papua New Guinea. A kid holds a violin during the performance of a young orchestra. The instrument - invented in baroque Europe - reached his island with ships that also brought in domination and disease in colonial times. Now, however, the music and the melody is part for him of the moving process of emancipation, growth and independence which, although not always easy, defines the moment of history and life that he is living. The boy is waiting to play Bach's Piano Sonatine n.1, composed in Germany in 1720.
