19th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Altered Images
Borgo Pass, California

This photo shows the pathway between two mountainous rock formations at the Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park that was used in the opening scene of Dracula (1931). I wanted to locate the approximate spot were the film’s cinematographer stood and travel back in time, imagining that I was there with the film crew embarking on the making of a cinematic classic.
