Bluethroat, male singing in rapeseed

Bernard LIEGEOIS Category “Natural World” Comments on the 2 proposed photographs Shooting date: April 24, 2021 Location of shooting: Maillé (Vienne 86) France Species: Bluethroat Luscinia svecica Shooting conditions: Images taken in the center-west of France near Poitiers, in the plain of Neuvillois-Mirebalais, from my vehicle parked on a path at the edge of a plot of rapeseed in bloom, without any disturbance for the bird. After several scouting and long waiting sessions, this superb singing male finally shows up in his entire splendor, perched on a rapeseed flower. This species, which is generally confined to Atlantic coastal marshes, is expanding towards the east and has been breeding for about ten years in rapeseed plots in the Poitou-Charentes region. Picture 2 Canon EOS 80D + Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary at 600mm, uncropped image. ISO 800, f/6.3, 1/3200s
