Black-striped Longhorn, Stenurella melanura. medium sized longhourn 6-10mm long. Beetle is predominantly chestnut brown. Sexually dimorphic. Male elytra are nearly uniform brown. Female: Center of back and innside elytra edges have strong black stripe to the end of the elytra. Tips of elytra are black creating appearance of split elytra seen on Oedemeridae. Elytra are ribbed and finely punctured. Body is narrow and elongated with tapered elytra. Male antennae are notably longer than the female Legs and antennae are black. Found in grasslands on wildflowers. Eggs are deposited in soft rotting wood or dead twigs and branches.Insects lived on woodland margins and clearings.
