Union Pacific Railroad Big Boy 4014 is the world’s largest operating steam locomotive. The massive 132 foot long locomotive and tender weigh 1.2 million pounds. Built in 1941, it logged over a million miles hauling freight over the mountains in Wyoming and Utah during World War II and beyond. One of 25 locomotives built with only eight surviving, Big Boy 4014 was restored in 2019 to operational status in time for the 150th year anniversary of the first transcontinental railroad in the United States.
