I took this photograph while visiting my family in Connecticut over the summer. The girl in the picture is my sister, Ava, who is 6 years old and the subject of many of my photos. I only noticed later on that the butterfly she is releasing is in perfect focus. My mom and I used to watch caterpillars grow and set them free when I was younger too and it made me happy to see this tradition carry on. This picture reminds me of my own childhood and how much it means to me to watch Ava grow and experience things that I did at her age.
