If one were to mention two most ubiquitous features of Ladakh then these would be the barren mountains and the Indian army camps. India’s anxieties regarding Ladakh are understandable given the fact that it has been locked in a long running border dispute with China over its border with Tibet. Army’s ubiquitous presence also serves as a logistical relief for the local civilian population and the tourists alike.
