Animas Forks Mining Ghost Town

This photo is showing an old mining town. The first log cabin was built in 1873 and the community became a bustling mining town by 1876. Animas Forks mined hard-rock silver and gold. The town became a ghost town by the 1920's. At an elevation of 11,185 feet, it is one of the highest mining camps in North America.
