A Tanner at Work

Fez, Morocco, is well known for its crafts and leather works. Its tannery neighborhood contains several traditional tanneries. In a tannery, raw leather is tanned by hand in these color wells. The smell is very strong and might cause headaches or even vomiting for unprepared visitors. The working conditions seem harsh and undesirable. However, it's a showcase of how the finest leathers are being made in the traditional way.
