Nueva Venecia is a stilt village in the middle of the large swamp called Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta -Magdalena, Colombia-. There the houses are supported on stakes and the streets are "paved" by the sea. Looks like something out of a magical realism book. Here everyone has a canoe in front of their house. Roads are water. They have had hard times. Today, on the contrary, people are dying of old age, and there are no robberies or crimes, and some neighbors even sleep with the doors of their houses open.
