A Roseate spoonbill alights in the wetlands

This photo shows a vibrant roseate spoonbill exactly where it belongs- in a pristine wetlands ecosystem! Here on the protected land of Cumberland island this bird is free to fish, nest, and socialize without significant anthropogenic pressure. This dazzling feather pigmentation is a sign of good health and a hearty diet of crustaceans. Every hot pink feather of a roseate spoonbill is a beacon of hope that our highly imperiled and critically important wetlands remain a source of remarkable biodiversity. How can you not see them with rose-colored glasses?
