A pink glow above the Tufa Towers
It is rare to get a shot of the Northern Lights from California, but when the solar winds swirled up a feast for us in October, I headed out to Mono Lake to get this shot next to the tufa towers. Tufa tower are calcium-carbonate spires and knobs formed by interaction of freshwater springs and alkaline lake water.
