A minaret in ruins in occupied Syria

This image shows the ruins of a mosque destroyed by the Israeli army in the war in 1967. In the occupied Jawlan (Golan Heights), many sites were left in ruin. The mosque was utterly destroyed, plastered with bullet holes and crumbling away. This minaret stood wounded but proud, a beacon of hope and resilience in the face of occupation.
