A Landscape Transformed
A journey through the Panama Canal is an unforgettable experience. The scene is calm and peaceful; workers adjacent to the passing ships are friendly and wave. Tourists marvel at the remarkable engineering and architecture as they make their way through the Gatún Locks. The landscape surrounding the canal is rich in flora and fauna. Construction of the canal was completed in 1914 and forever changed maritime travel, world connections, and the geography of the region.
