A Four-toed Salamander on a Leaf

This is a gravid (pregnant) Four-toed Salamander. Four-toed salamanders are cryptic amphibians that spend much of their lives underground. These salamanders breed in the spring in highly sensitive bogs and are often threatened across their range.
