A Cattail Past Its Prime

A cattail past its prime, Relies on mother earth's time When growing grizzled and old; Like a beast grabbing hold Clinging to the seedy head; Giving all the more to dread! This is a figment of my over active imagination but the more I examined this aged cattail when I went for a walk in the woods, the more I could see where nature gave it the profile of an elderly grizzled man with what looked like a squirrel like creature clinging atop his head. Natures art can be spooky and spectacular:-) It really caught my attention the afternoon of 4/9/2022. We didn't see any cattails this year in the woods which was a bit disappointing.
