20th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest The American Experience
A Better Planet Earth

Flushing Meadows–Corona Park is located in the Queens District. It’s the second largest garden park in New York. The first United Nations Assembly in America was held in the park, so did the 1964 World’s Fair. The large Unisphere catches the attention of visitors for its 140-feet-high stainless steel globe, which was built especially for the 1964 World’s Fair and also a symbol to show the United States’presence in the universe.
